Praised for his “lustrous tone” by Musical America, Italian flutist Giorgio Consolati has performed at Carnegie Hall, David Geffen Hall, the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, and the Marlboro Music Festival, as well as throughout Italy, Germany, and China. A prizewinner of competitions including the 9th De Lorenzo International Flute Competition and the National Society of Arts and Letters Woodwind Competition, he is currently principal flute of the York Symphony Orchestra and serves as Marina Piccinini’s teaching assistant at the Peabody Institute, where he also teaches flute minors and chamber music.
Highlights of the upcoming season include a performance of the Jerod Tate Flute Concerto with the Peabody Symphony Orchestra, concerts of Duo Brillante! of an all women composer program, teaching at the Chamber Music Forum of the East at Colgate University and at the MPI in Switzerland during the summer, and recording a new album!
